To provide Council with an additional source of funding to implement its core activities.  Council has a contract with the Roads & Traffic Authority to maintain 280km of State Roads and 7km of National Highways within the Moree Plains Shire.
Key challenges include the introduction of a quality assurance system to ISO 9000 that meets RTA contract requirements and to carry out the work efficiently and profitably. Council is regularly called upon by private individuals to carry out works on their behalf. Typical private works of this nature include: - Construction and maintenance of private car parks
- Grading of access roads
- Works on behalf of developers (construction of roads and drains)
- Hire of plant and equipment
 Future Direction
- Achieve R2 ($2.0 million project status) and then R5
($5.0 million project status) pre-qualification for Council. - Implement quality, safety and environmental systems of management
that comply with ISO 9000. - Undertake all contractual works efficiently and profitably.
