Proposed Part Rezoning Of Taylor Oval
Moree Plains Shire Council has been investigating the introduction of a discount department store to Moree township for some years.  Following a registration of interest process an expression of interest was received from Woolworths which was followed by the lodging of a development application with Council.  Council has resolved to exhibit both the Development Application and a draft local environmental plan affecting the Taylor Oval site.
You should look at both parts of the exhibition.

The spot rezoning proposal will be on formal exhibition, in conjunction with the Development Application, from Thursday, 28th February 2008 to Thursday 24th April, 2008.  You may make submissions on either the Draft Local Environmental Plan 1995 Amendment No. 17, or the Development Application within the periods of their formal exhibition. Submissions received during the recent informal exhibition will be accepted as submissions on the applications. Council has commissioned external consultants to assess the development application and a copy of submissions will be supplied to them, for their review and evaluation as part of preparing a report to Council.  The proponent, Woolworths, will also have an opportunity to respond to all submissions received.
Please note that submissions are considered public documents.

What the draft local environmental plan does
The draft local environmental plan applies to part of Taylor Oval, as shown on the map accompanying this exhibition.  The effect of the plan is to change the map of Moree Plains Local Environmental Plan 1995 so that the area of Taylor Oval proposed for the discount department store is rezoned from Zone No 6 (a) (Public Open Space) to Zone No 3 (Business).
How do I make a submission?
Submissions must be in writing and if the submission is by way of objection to the rezoning the submission should indicate the grounds of objection.  Submissions must be lodged within the formal exhibition period and can be sent by mail to: The General Manager, Moree Plains Shire Council, PO Box 420, Moree NSW 2400.
