Calls for ideas for the Moree Railway Station face |
Mayor of Moree Plains Shire, Cr Mike Montgomery is calling for ideas from the public to improve the Moree Railway Station building and turn it back into a community resource.
The public forum will be held on Wednesday, 6 February at 5.30 pm at Council Chamber to identify any ideas, projects or future uses for the building.
“We have an opportunity to breathe life into the heritage listed building,” said Councillor Montgomery
“The renovation of the building could create a valuable community resource for volunteer groups and clubs,” he added.
“The community has an opportunity to let Council know what they would like done with the historic building”, he said
The Moree Railway Station officially welcomed for the return of the Explorer Train to Moree in 1995. However, the station has been subject to vandalism and graffiti in recent years.and is poorly regarded by the traveling public and visitors to Moree.
Councillor Montgomery said “The Station is one of the gateways to Moree. A facelift would welcome the traveling public and portray Moree in a positive light”.
Council would also welcome written Expressions of Interest from community groups or members of the public who are unable to attend.
