Moree Plains Shire Council and Moree Chamber of Commerce Investigate Skills Shortages

Moree Plains Shire Council is distributing a Skills Shortage Questionnaire to various businesses across the Shire. The mail out of this survey will commence 19th January and copies of the survey are available below.

The purpose of the survey is to quantify what skills are required by business and to use this data to workshop solutions for the future development, attraction and retention of skilled workers.

Other community partners will be invited to participate in the workshopping of solutions linking those generating future skills with those requiring them as a part of this process.  It is expected that one of the greatest social outcomes of the process will be improved understanding and engagement of unemployed and underemployed members of our existing community.

Both Council and the Chamber recognise that investment needs to be tailored and that pooling of both pubic and private resources already invested in a targeted and collaborative manner is far more likely to produce meaningful results.

Submission of survey responses are required by the 27th February 2009.
