To build and nurture a sustainable tourism industry which co-exists and complements the Shire's unique environment. To showcase the natural artesian spa water, and the vast array of agricultural diversity, whilst drawing upon the culture and products of the region.

Tourism Moree Incorporated will provide members with a focused marketing effort to draw the maximum number of visitors to the area. Our aim is to identify and group with the local community and the wider tourism industry, recognising the importance and value of that infrastructure at the same time nurturing, educating, and growing our memberships, and the community awareness and importance of the tourism.

ImageThe Moree Visitor Information Centre and Tourism Moree provides a professional and friendly service to their stakeholders: These stakeholders are:

  • The Visitors;
  • The Funding Bodies; and
  • The Operators.

The key roles of the Moree Visitor Information Centre and Tourism Moree is:

  • Information Distribution;
  • Local and Regional Interpretation; and
  • Brand, market and promote the Moree Plains Shire.


Customer service plays a major role in all duties of an information centre, and Tourism Moree believe that customer service is real, it matters, and it is achievable at all levels.

Awards & Achievements

In 2003 Tourism Moree was nominated in the local Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business Awards, under the category for Hospitality. Tourism Moree was successful and won this category. This qualified our organisation for the Business of the Year Awards, that we also won.

Future Direction

Tourism Moree will continue their commitment to ensuring the sustainability of tourism within the Moree Shire to ensure the further development and success of the tourism industry in Moree our objectives will be to:

  • To review the business plan and marketing strategy for 2004-2009
  • To excite & educate the community about the shire and its potential to attract visitors.
  • To maintain active links with appropriate regional tourism associations.
  • To agree performance measures with Council to ensure Councils continued investment.
  • To communicate effectively with its members
  • To encourage high quality products and services by local operators.
  • To co-ordinate and implement marketing strategy for 2004 - 2009
  • To increase visitation to the Moree Shire, and encourage repeat visitation.
  • To create, market and produce Tourism Moree Brochure and promotional material
  • To create, market and upkeep new Tourism Moree website.
  • To redesign and work collectively with Moree Plains Shire Council on Entrance signage and beautification.
  • To have a major presence in Festivals and events within the shire.
  • To market and promote packages to industry bodies, such as coach, rail and air.
