Page 1 of 2 To manage the operations of Council to ensure the strategic objectives of Council are met; and To provide accurate reporting on Council activities.
 The Executive Division provides leadership and
strategic management to the organisation while ensuring that the daily
operation is effective, efficient and accountable. The key activities are: • Management of strategic relationships with stakeholders; • Ensure Council’s interests are well represented at all levels of government; • Formulating organisational strategies and supporting policies; • The ongoing development of the Shire to ensure the economic and social needs of the community are met • Ensure the provision and delivery of direct services to the community are aligned to real community needs; • Development of strategies for workplace agreements; • Evaluation of the business cases for Council’s commercial activities • Preparation and distribution of Business Papers and Minutes • Co-ordination of Civic Functions • Organisational performance monitoring • Management reporting of progress in achieving the Council’s objectives Future Direction Following
the election in March 2004 the Executive Group will be facilitating the
development of the new Council and the review of the Organisation. The
Council’s policies, delegations and structure will have to be reviewed
and the new Committees implemented along with the review and updating
of all Council’s policies. Economic Development for the Shire
remains a priority to continue to build Moree’s reputation as a
Regional Centre and provide employment opportunities to help address
the long-term social problems and reconciliation with the Aboriginal
Communities. The facilitation of a major discount department store into
Moree is a priority. Our long-term aim is for Moree to be known for the quality of its Council and its Corporate Governance.
