To provide efficient and effective engineering and technical support and traffic facility services to Council's operation.  The Design Section provides professional and technical advice and engineering evaluation and assessments for proposed developments, as well as facilitating the provision of traffic facilities and street lighting.
Key challenges include the need to develop design information systems; design policies; design and development guidelines and standards; development of an effective asset management system. Future Direction - Provide sound engineering advice to ensure that Council's
infrastructure assets are constructed and maintained to an
established standard. - Provide traffic management advice to:
- Support the assessment of development
- Support the design and construction of Council assets.
- Ensure traffic facilities are maintained to an established standard. - Implement GIS mapping system to support asset management record systems.
- Develop operational policies, guidelines and standards to support traffic and construction requirements.
- Review engineering library resources and centralise documentation.
- Develop and implement an asset management strategy and plan that minimises the life cycle costs and improves
the amenity of Council's transport network assets.
