To ensure that effective services are provided to the Community which complies with relevant Acts, Regulations and Council policies; involving public education, awareness and community involvement. The Ranger Services section manages companion animals throughout Moree Plains Shire. It also investigates a range of complaints taking appropriate enforcement action relating to environmental issues. The key activities of this section are:
- Environment protection;
- Companion animal management;
- Public Road Stock Grazing Authorities;
- Litter control;
- Alcohol Free Zones;
- Abandon vehicles; and
- Management of stray and/or nuisance livestock
Future Direction Provide an ongoing effective and efficient level of service in relation to community complaints;- Provide effective and efficient management of companion animals within the
Shire; - Develop and implement public education campaigns; and
- To implement programmes that result in an overall reduction of littering and
inappropriately disposing of waste material. - Design and install an approved off leash area in the Moree township;
- All animal control signs throughout the Shire are to be reviewed in conjunction
with relevant Divisions of Council; and - Establishment of a lock-up fenced in yard for impounded articles.
Pound Facility Moree Plains Shire Council's pound is located in Tycannah Street, Moree; this facility caters for both dogs and cats. There is also a facility located at Boggabilla and Mungindi, which cater for dogs only. Moree Plains Shire Council has a livestock facility located in Moree.
