KIDS COOKING CLUB A HIGHLIGHT AT THE MUNGINDI SHOW

The Mungindi Show will be held over the weekend of 12-13 August 2017 and the Show Society has been given a $1440 funding boost through Moree Plains Shire Council’s Public Donations financial assistance program to help showcase the Mungindi region and provide a diverse, entertaining and educational event.

bubble muffinShow Society Sponsorship Organiser Alison Orchin explained the funds will be used to host a series of children’s cooking shows where up to 120 school-aged children will get a hands-on experience.

“The Bubble Muffin Kids Cooking Club promotes healthy food and lifestyles and provides an understanding of food preparation. It is a real hit with the kids and their parents.

“This year’s Show will also showcase the Monster Trucks along with all the family favourites including the Lowey’s lawn mower races, smash up derby, the yard dog trials, woodchop, arena sorting and team penning, grain shovelling competition and the Mitre 10 Weber cook off.

“Everyone in the Show Society has put in a huge effort to showcase the best of country life and the rural lifestyle.

“With the drought and dry times severely affecting our community and the region as a whole, we really strive to reach as many people as possible, to get them out of the house and off the farm, away from feeding animals or whatever stresses they may have, even for just an hour!

“If we can do that and bring people together interacting with each other, we believe it’s a great step forward for mental health and social development in our community.”

“The Mungindi Show Society is very grateful to Moree Plains Shire Council for its continued financial support,” said Alison.

Mayor, Cr Katrina Humphries said, “Moree Plains Shire Council is very proud to support the Mungindi Show Society. We are very aware of how important these events are for our community and we are incredibly grateful to Society members for putting their hands up year-on-year to pull this event together. This sort of spirit is what makes our community tick!”
