13 June 4pm – Submissions close on Wheelie Bin Contamination Policy
Sadly, some households do not dispose of their waste correctly and place inappropriate items into their recycling bins causing contamination. Disposing of plastic bags, garbage bags, general rubbish and clothing in to the yellow-lid and green-lid recycling bins affects Council’s ability to process the recyclables into new products. In some cases, just a few contaminated wheelie bins can ruin an entire truckload of recyclables, which results in the material having to be landfilled. Council has drafted a Wheelie Bin Contamination Policy to deal with this issue and members of the public are encouraged to read and make comment on it, prior to it being implemented. Your feedback can be submitted in writing to the General Manager, Moree Plains Shire Council, PO Box 420, Moree NSW 2400 or email to This email address is being protected from spambots.
