Mobiles for a Meal
Residents of Moree Plains Shire have donated the equivalent of 128 meals via the MobileMuster’s mobile for a meal campaign.
For every mobile recycled in January and February, MobileMuster donated the value of a meal to OzHarvest, Australia's leading food rescue agency, to help 644,000 people who now receive food relief each month, of which, one third are children.
Council’s Waste Officer Tahra Sayers explained the aim of MobileMuster is to keep old mobiles and accessories out of landfill and ensure they are recycled safely, securely and ethically.
“Each of the 128 recycled mobiles from Moree Plains residents helped provide food relief for someone in need.”
“MobileMuster also recovers over 95% of the materials used in mobile phones and accessories, the data is destroyed and nothing is resold. MobileMuster’s mobile for a meal campaign is a win for those in need and the environment,” she said.
Old mobile phones can be left for MobileMuster at Council at its Customer Service Centres in Moree, Mungindi or Boggabilla.
