Big Sky Libraries Online Catalogue – Now a One-Stop-Shop

Big Sky Libraries is offering a new service which allows customers to search and borrow over 50,000 printed items and 6000 eBooks, eAudio and eMagazines through an online public access catalogue (OPAC).

The new service integrates the Libraries’ own collections with commercial e-resource providers such as Bolinda BorrowBox (eAudio and eBooks), Wheelers (eBooks) and Zinio (eMagazines) making borrowing electronic resources easier and more accessible.

Big Sky Libraries Collection Services Librarian Svetlana Aksenova explained, “Previously, to check if the Library held a copy of the title, either as a print book or electronic resource, the search would need to be made on the Library’s system then through the e-resource provider – now borrowers just go to one location and it searches all the collections.”

“The one-stop-shop feature is great for Big Sky Libraries customers as they can now filter through over 50,000 printed items and 6000 electronic resources with just a few clicks of the mouse!” said Ms Aksenova.

To search the library catalogue go to www.bsl.nsw.gov.au > Resources > Collections or https://bigsky.spydus.com/cgi-bin/spydus.exe/MSGTRN/OPAC/HOME

Big Sky Library card holders can borrow and reserve eBooks, eAudio and eMagazines directly through the catalogue, as well as through BorrowBox, Wheelers and Zinio Apps.

If you’re not yet a Big Sky Libraries member and you want to have borrowing privileges and free access to print and electronic resources, drop into your local branch to get your library membership today.
