Bulky Waste Clean Up – Best Ever Response

Bulky waste collections have increased by 41% in twelve months under Moree Plains Shire Council’s booking system for collection of materials for items such as e-waste; white goods and broken furniture, oversized garden pruning’s, scrap metal and wood.

Water and Waste Group Manager David Wolfenden explained the bulky waste collection process. “Council offers the bulky waste kerb collection service in March and August each year but the collection truck doesn’t drive up and down the streets looking for waste piles, instead residents must contact the Waste Hotline on 1300 736 719 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  to register in their kerbside collection before they put items out on the kerb.

“We appreciate that the majority of households are using the booking system as we are finding this process is much more effective as booked in collections aren’t missed,” said Mr Wolfenden.

“Ideally, we ask residents to separate items into piles on the kerb – this makes it easier to distinguish between rubbish and recycling”.
