Show Your Appreciation For A Volunteer
Moree Plains Shire Council and Moree Lion’s Club are looking to showcase locals who have made a significant voluntary contribution to the Moree Plains community at the 2018 Australia Day awards.
President of the Moree Lion’s Club Barrie Brooks hopes to receive a number of submissions for the awards now that nominations are open.
“There will be one Citizen of the Year Award and one Young Citizen of the Year Award to recognise the significant contribution these individuals make to the Moree Plains community,” he said.
“The Community Event or Community Group award acknowledges the excellent coordination of a project or event that showcases Moree Plains a great place to live and those who have volunteered their time to make an outstanding contribution at a local community level.”
Mr Brooks said the Sports Person of the Year will be presented to the individual (junior or senior) person who has made a significant contribution to local sport on or off the field.
“This year we have also combined the Volunteer of the Year and the Group Volunteer of the Year awards into our celebrations, making a total of six awards categories all together.”
“I encourage everyone to think about those people who contribute to making Moree Plains such a friendly and welcoming community; and formally recognise them for their efforts with a nomination to the 2018 Australia Day awards,” said Mr Brooks.
Nominations forms can be found here or by contacting Mr Barrie Brooks at Moree Lions Club on (02) 6752 1226.
