Bush Fire Danger period starts at the beginning of September

Through consultation with local stakeholders, the Local Bush Fire Danger period for the Moree Plains Shire has been brought forward to the start of September 2018.

Moree Plains Shire Council’s Engineering Manager Fiona McClymont explained the extended exceptional dry conditions and no sign of a change in the near future, meant a variation to the Bush Fire Danger period needed to be considered for north west NSW.

“The Commissioner of the NSW Rural Fire Service announced an early commencement of Bush Fire Danger period from 1 September for Moree Plains, Gwydir and Narrabri Shires.”

Further information on your responsibilities in relation to the bush fire danger period and fire permits can be obtained from the Moree Rural Fire Service Fire Control Centre on (02) 6752 2452 or www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/BFDP
