Junior Touch Footy Seeks Sponsors
The Junior Touch Football season is in full swing with Mayor Katrina Humphries launching the first game Wednesday, 27 March 2019 at Boughton Oval, with over 100 players in attendance.
It was an afternoon of family fun with a free BBQ and fruit for participants and spectators. Many first time players were able to develop new skills, with the support of more experienced players and under the guidance of newly appointed coaches and referees.
Mrs Roslyn Laws, Moree Plain Shire Council’s Community Development Officer said “everyone had a great game, a few laughs and showed plenty of support for one another”.
Registration will remain open until Wednesday, 10 April so there is still time for those wanting to play to get involved. All children aged from 7-17 are welcome to play.
Free PCYC memberships are still available for players who register via the PCYC at Boston Street, Moree.
“The Moree Community Drug Action team are pitching in with free PCYC memberships for players who sign up, but to take advantage of that opportunity, players must contact the PCYC directly,” said Mrs Laws.
As the season progresses the committee will be looking for sponsors and support from the community to see the league continue into the future.
“The committee will be fundraising throughout the season selling $1 sausage sandwiches at the games going forward,” Mrs Laws added.
