    In September, works were undertaken at Ron Harborne Oval for the construction of a traditional white picket fence for the turf wicket cricket oval ahead of this year’s summer season. Last weekend, this great new ground hosted its maiden innings with the Vic Vikings taking on the Stallions.

  • Pedestrian Safety Works

    Council wishes to advise that in the coming weeks, subject to staff availability and weather conditions, that we will be removing one (1) of the two (2) Benjamina Ficus trees at the corner of Auburn and Albert Streets, Moree.

    These works are being carried out in the interest of pedestrian safety.

  • Critical Step Forward for Moree Plains’ Inland Rail Intermodal

    Moree Plains Shire Council Mayor Cr Katrina Humphries, in conjunction with Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton, is delighted to announce that Council has been successful in securing grant funding to undertake a comprehensive transport study for the Moree Plains Shire.

    The total project value is $425,000; comprising some funding and in-kind contributions by Council, with the lion’s share being made available

  • Emergency Exercises Staged At Moree Regional Airport

    Earlier this month, the Moree Regional Airport (MRA) ran a mock emergency exercise to evaluate interagency response at the airport to a simulated aircraft crash, fire and injured passengers.

    MRA Manager Fiona McClymont explained the aim of these exercises is to give the emergency procedures a work-out, testing roles and responsibilities, and making sure the airport and agencies are well-equipped to work

  • Operation Fortia - Cover Your Load

    Moree Plains Shire Council and the Barwon Highway Patrol - Traffic and Highway Patrol Command are working together on “Operation Fortia” to target load restraint issues for both light and heavy vehicles and related trailers, focusing, in particular, on unsecured and uncovered waste loads.

    “Operation Fortia” is in operation now until 31 December 2017.
