Reconciliation Action Plan

Moree Plains Shire Council Reconcilation Action Plan 2025 2028Council is proud to announce the adoption of the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2025–2028, which outlines our renewed commitment to reconciliation, truth-telling, and culturally respectful practice.

On 7 May 2025, Council passed the following resolution to note all submissions received and adopt the Action Plan.

During the public exhibition period, Council received two formal submissions. These submissions played a key role in shaping the final version of the RAP.

Council carefully considered all feedback. Several suggestions—particularly around improving action language, cultural representation, and historical accuracy—have been incorporated. A detailed response summary to all submission points is now available.

The adopted RAP builds on three focus areas:

  • Relationships – Strengthening respectful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Respect – Creating culturally safe spaces in our organisation and community.
  • Opportunities – Supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment, business engagement, and leadership.

This is not a "set and forget" plan. It is a living document that will guide Council's reconciliation journey and be embedded across our work with staff, partners, and community.

We are grateful to everyone who participated in consultations and are committed to remaining accountable, transparent, and proactive in our reconciliation efforts.
