 Mental Health Session

Sessions on the evening will include:
Responding to Psychological Injury Claims – Implementing best practice
Presented by Jade Alexander - icare Mental Health Team leader

This session will provide you with tools to improve worker engagement, and support early and sustained return to work. You will also hear about how to manage complex behaviours and ways to have a positive conversation with someone when you doubt the legitimacy of their injury.

Participants will also be provided with proactive tips and strategies for Employers responding to and managing psychological injury claims during the initial intervention phase and when determining liability.

The Value of Social Connection
Presented by Charith De Silva - icare Community Lead

This session demonstrates the valuable role of social connection in the workplace in preventing injury, maintaining wellbeing and improving return to work. Participants will come away with tips and ideas for increasing social connections in their workplace

Activities at the Library

MONDAYS

Knit & Natter – Fortnightly during the year at 2.00pm – 3.00pm (excludes public holidays), from January 6
A relaxed and informal get together for knitting and crocheting enthusiasts. Drop in, no bookings required. BYO knitting needles and crochet hooks, wool provided.

TUESDAYS

Big Sky’s Little Readers – Weekly during the school term at 3.30pm – 4.30pm, recommencing February 4
Aimed at children in Kindergarten to Grade 2, this book club meets weekly during the school term to read stories from the Library’s junior collections and make craft. Members also get to preview new books and have first opportunity to borrow them! (Operates during school term, new members welcome but must book in with Library staff).

WEDNESDAY

Brain Training – Weekly during the school term at 10.30am – 11.30am, recommencing February 5

A free 10 week program targeting the improvement of mental function, memory, and concentration whilst in a safe, social setting! All materials provided. Suitable for ages 50+.

Book Blasters – Fortnightly during the school term at 3.30pm – 4.30pm, recommencing February 5
Activities for young people in Years 3-6 - Don’t fancy books? – blast that attitude and be delightfully surprised by the fun and games. (Operates during school term, new members welcome but must book in with Library staff).

THURSDAYS

Rhyme Time – Weekly during the school term at 10.00am, recommencing February 6
Rhyme Time is an interactive session which includes rhymes, stories and instruments for young children up to 5 years, parents and carers.

FRIDAYS

Storytime – Weekly during school term at 10.30am, recommencing February 7
Storytime at the Library for pre-schoolers and their carers. Enjoy stories and craft activities.

Lego Club – Fortnightly during the school term at 3.30 – 4.30pm, recommencing February 7

Come in and join us for some LEGO fun! Build EPIC creations and make new friends along the way! Bookings essential. For children aged 7-12.   

Needing a Public Donation by Council?

Individuals and community, sporting and educational groups wishing to apply for financial assistance from Moree Plains Shire Council for events, functions and sponsorship during the months required below are to complete and submit a Public Donations Application Form to enable the application to be considered.

In accordance with its Public Donations Policy, applications received after this deadline will not be considered until Council’s first meeting next calendar quarter (i.e. in three months’ time).

Any queries in relation to applications for financial assistance should be directed to the Grants Officer (02) 6757 3222.
