Cr Tighe Brendan Moylan and Cr PearseBrendan Moylan MP attended the Extraordinary Council Meeting last week to discuss key projects within his electorate with Councillors and senior management.

Council took the opportunity to discuss a range of state issues, with crime and community safety high on the agenda.

With a shortage of GP Obstetricians and midwives, the council also impressed upon Mr Moylan the critical importance of ensuring access to birthing services locally.

Last week, Cr Fred McGrady and Cr Peter Mailler, along with 30 attendees, gathered at the Boggabilla Town and Country Club for the Boggabilla Community Action Committee meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to explore the formation of a committee dedicated to representing the interests of the Boggabilla and district community. This proposed committee will act as a liaison between the community, political representatives, government agencies, and service providers.

Councillors Hit the Road for Community Engagement in Mungindi

Councillors connected with community members today at The Flock in Mungindi, allowing residents to engage with their local representatives, ask questions, and discuss the Community Strategic Plan (CSP).

A highlight of the event was Sandy McNaughton and special guest Letitia Cross addressing the vital topics of mental health and community resilience, sharing insights on the importance of supporting one another.

While in Mungindi, Councillors toured key community projects, including the Mungindi Junior Rugby League Clubhouse and Caloona Road. They explored the success of completed initiatives delivered with the Balonne Shire Council, such as the boat ramp, Mungindi River Park, and the outdoor sculpture trail.

Mayor Cr Susannah Pearse also took the opportunity to recognise Council’s Water and Sewer Plant Operator, Stephen Whitehouse, presenting him with a 5 year service award.

In addition, Councillors Pearse, Hodgkinson, Cassells, and McGrady visited the Boomi Pools while in the northwest part of the Shire.

Special thanks to Brooke Luhrs, President of the Mungindi Progress Association, who accompanied the Councillors during their tour of the Mungindi Junior Rugby League Clubhouse.

We encourage all members of the community to share their vision for the Moree Plains Shire by completing the online survey while we develop our CSP. The CSP, called  Our Moree Plains – Our vision to 2036, is a ten year plan that identifies the priorities and goals for our Shire.

Have your Say by completing the survey >> https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GQB7ZNM

All activities around community consultation and the opportunity to complete the online survey will conclude on 14 February 2025.
