All Invited to the Official Opening of the Archive Room at the Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre

Aunty Noeline Archives Room OpeningWe are proud to announce the opening of a dedicated Archive Room at the Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre, in recognition of Aunty Noeline Briggs-Smith OAM and her outstanding contributions to the preservation and promotion of Indigenous history and culture.

This special dedication honours her tireless work and unwavering commitment to documenting the rich heritage of the Gamilaroi people and the broader Indigenous community.

Noeline Briggs-Smith OAM has been a pivotal figure in the preservation of Indigenous history. Her extensive research and publications have provided invaluable insights into the lives, traditions, and stories of the Gamilaroi people, ensuring that this important cultural knowledge is not lost to future generations. Her work has been instrumental in fostering greater understanding and appreciation of Indigenous heritage within the broader Australian community.

The Archive Room at the Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre will serve as a central repository for the vast array of historical documents, photographs, and artifacts that Noeline has collected over the years.

This dedicated space will not only honour her legacy but also provide researchers, students, and the general public with access to a wealth of information about the region's Indigenous history.

The Archive Room will be a resource for ongoing education and a testament to the enduring cultural heritage of the Gamilaroi people.

The official opening of the Archive Room will be held the Friday, 24 May 2024 at 11am at the Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre (DAC) and we invite all members of the community to join us in celebrating this important occasion.

Light refreshments will be provided.
